Learning the art of working together when viewpoints contradict

It is a sunny day here in Minnesota on election day. The October snow has melted away. It is predicted to be in the 60’s. A heatwave for this neck of the woods.

My husband and I have voted. Now the waiting game begins.

I pray for peace no matter the outcome if that outcome is today or a week from today. I pray our country can learn to work together and not against each other.

This country was formed because of people having different ideas and wanting the freedom to express it. It is our right.

I pray future generations will see how we need to work together. Politicians need to learn to work together, across the wide expanse of an aisle. To listen to others who have a different background from their own. We can still talk and discuss with others who do not agree. It is a skill we have lost. Blame social media. Blame the current government. How about we just stop blaming? And do it.

Why do people feel this need to want to make everyone worship the same god, vote the same way, follow the same life path as others? People have the right to make their own decisions about their lives. Women should not have to beg (over and over again) to decide what happens…
